“Kayak 4 Trash” by Fjord CleanUP
Adventure with Impact – Paddle for a Cleaner Fjord
This year, we launched Kayak 4 Trash – an initiative that turns every paddle stroke into environmental action. Thanks to our collaboration with Mad Goats and Akerselva Padleklubb, you can now enjoy free kayak rentals on the Oslo Fjord and Akerselva Canal, while helping to clean up the waters that define our city.
It’s not just about collecting waste – it’s about making cleanups enjoyable, active, and accessible. Whether you’re paddling past the Opera House, exploring hidden corners of the harbor, or paddling up Akerselva, every trip becomes part of our mission to clean and restore the fjord back to life. We’ve already removed over 150 tonnes of waste from Oslo’s waterways – and this initiative is another powerful way we continue the fight, together.
So jump in a kayak and glide across the fjord in a sustainable, healthy, and peaceful way – explore Oslo’s islands and waterfront with friends, and leave the water cleaner than you found it.
Pssst! Are you a Fjord CleanUP Member?
If not you need to sign up here. Once you are a Fjord CleanUP member you will get access to our members mailing list and our Facebook group where you can find the code to book your free kayak rental.

Respect the Gear – Keep It Running for Everyone
Kayak 4 Trash runs entirely on trust and responsibility. We’re relying on you to treat the kayaks and equipment with care so this initiative can keep going strong for all members.
-
Return kayaks to the racks exactly as you found them.
-
Strap them down securely – wind and weather can cause damage if left loose.
-
Lock everything properly when you’re done.
-
Leave the area tidy – no gear, trash, or personal items left behind.
This service exists because we trust our community to do the right thing. Respect the gear, respect the space, and we’ll keep paddling for a cleaner fjord together.
